Dear Canton Families,
We have appreciated your responses and preferences through past surveys, and all of your support through the Fall planning process. I am reaching out in this communication to share the registration link for the Remote Learning Pathway. The Remote Learning Pathway is a full-year, fully remote alternative option for families who do not want their children to enter the school building.
Families who are engaging in the Continuum of Learning Models (All-In, Hybrid, Remote Learning 2.0) can disregard this message and no action is required. This message serves as the formal registration notice for the Remote Learning Pathway.
The deadline to register for the Remote Learning Pathway is Monday, August 31 at 5 p.m. If we do not hear back from a family by the deadline, your child will be part of the Continuum cohorts.
The Remote Learning Pathway registration link can be accessed here.
We recognize that this decision is difficult and your preference from the previous survey may have changed. Thus, we are conducting this Remote Learning Pathway registration to determine final student rosters.
The Remote Learning Pathway will feature the following:
- Fully remote, Full year
- A set schedule of classes (see the draft student schedules provided by the principals)
- A full set of classes, including specials and services
- Classes taught by a Canton teacher
- Courses that are aligned with the Canton curriculum
- Movement breaks, off screen time (especially for our younger students)
- Opportunities for socialization through digital platforms
- Strong instructional design that leverages technology, apps and learning platforms
- Live teaching and opportunities for both collaboration and independent work
If a parent/guardian chooses to switch into the RLP or transition out of it, there will be a three-week transition process before the change is made. This transition period allows for closure in the current educational path and time for acclimation to the new learning environment. If you transition out of the RLP, you will be eligible for a bus pass, if needed. It is best for students to stay in a consistent setting throughout the year and we want to foster a culture of commitment. And, I also want you to know this transition period exists.
Once the RLP registrations are finalized, we will work swiftly to develop the RLP classes and connect with you in the coming days about next steps. As a reminder, the RLP elementary classes will feature students from all three elementary schools and the teacher may not be from one’s elementary school in a traditional year.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me at [email protected] or your building principal.
